While yoga may be perceived by some as a fitness trend or fad, it's been around for more than 5,000 years. Some yoga classes are designed purely to teach you how to relax, but others will teach you how to move your body in new ways.
Body Pump's yoga classes will help you improve your flexibility, strength, and balance. And Body Pump offers three different styles of yoga classes. |

Yoga has a number of health benefits, some physical, some emotional, and others mental. So whether you're looking for increased flexibility and strength, or improved concentration and mood, yoga can be a great workout. Here are just some of the health benefits of yoga.
Yoga Improves Flexibility
When most people think about yoga they think about stretching like a gymnast or circus contortionist. This can lead us to think that we're too old or can't move our bodies in this way. But the truth is that it's never too late to work on our flexibility, and yoga is a great way to achieve this.
Yoga is comprised of a series of poses called asanas and they work to safely stretch your muscles. This releases lactic acid that may be stored in your muscles and is the cause of stiffness, tension, pain, and fatigue. Most participants notice marked improvement in their flexibility after eight weeks of practicing yoga.
Yoga Creates a Strong Body
Some forms of yoga like ashtanga and power yoga give the body a vigorous workout, and practicing one of these styles will help improve your body's muscle tone. Some poses like downward or upward dog improve upper-body strength, while standing poses help improve lower-body strength, so these types of yoga offer a full-body workout.
Yoga Improves Posture
Improving your strength and flexibility ultimately improves your posture. Yoga helps us become more in tune with our bodies, so we'll notice when we're slouching or slumping throughout the day and we're able to make quick corrections.
Yoga Promotes Better Breathing
Deep, mindful breathing also can improve out lung capacity and this helps us during other workouts. Most forms of yoga emphasize deepening and lengthening your breath and this stimulates relaxation.
